Indy Summer Vacation

I went home this summer to Indiana to visit my family and every day was filled with quality time, I loved it!

My aunt, grandma and I spent a half of a day relaxing at Oliver Winery in Bloomington, Indiana. This place was so beautiful, the grounds and the log cabin that the tasting took place in. I could move right in!

I had never been to a winery before so everything was exciting and new. I loved trying all the wines I was interested in and taking notes so I can remember my preferences. We ended the tasting by buying a cold bottle of Moscato, some crackers, cheese and jam and sitting outside in the shade for a couple hours.

While snacking we played Rummikub, a game my family loves! We also waited for the jury's decision on the Casey Anthony case. We were all excited they decided not guilty. My grandma especially had been following the trial since the beginning and we all agreed that the prosecution did not prove Casey was guilty without a reasonable doubt. I know a lot of people felt justice was not served and I agree that poor Caylee did not get justice here, but the prosecution left plenty of reasonable doubt and I wouldn't wish a guilty verdict with that on anyone.

Here we are snacking and playing Rummikub. I loved this day!

My family and I also participated in a family 5k when I was home! Very exciting to finish with not only a new personal record but to also share that with your family. I will write a more detailed recap later but overall this small race had a beautiful course, well organized and cheap! I would definitely run the Franklin Sparkler Sprint 5k again!

This is my two brothers Sinjin and Chase, my mom and myself before the race.

This is me finishing the race and a new pr! Very excited and happy to be finishing!

One thing I did almost every single day I was home was go on a walk with my parent's dogs. I miss having a pet expecially my cute dogs Bo and Lily. However, as much as I liked spending time with the dogs, the simple act of taking a walk slowly around the neighborhood with anyone, or no one was fantastic. So calming, and perfect weather as apposed to the heat we deal with in south florida in the summer. I truly miss the four seasons and the less humid climates. I hope I will be back in Indiana in the next couple of years.

I took this picture on one of our walks around my grandmother's neighborhood with our dog Lily and a few family members. My grandma has lived here my whole life so every where I look brings back a memory or story.

We saw these huge mushrooms on the side of a tree on the way back. Doesn't everything look so green?? I loved it! They have been getting lots of rain this summer so everything looked so vibrant.

Along with walks the second biggest thing I did with my family was play games, and eat! Of course eating, but playing games is much more exciting. We played euchre, poker, video games, etc. Living with only one other person really limits what games we can play together so getting together with my whole family allowed for most all games! I love just sitting around the table chatting, snacking, playing games and catching up.

This is one of my grandma's cats, Holly sitting in their front yard.

This is my parent's other dog Bo, at my mom's house.

I could go on and on about all the little things we did like make Luxembourg cookies, my mom winning big at the casino, many successful shopping trips, explaining to my grandma what a vegan is, and so much more but I think you get it. Vacation + Family = one happy girl.
